Meet the Founder
ELIZABETH BASSETT
A former Washingtonian and proud Virginian, Elizabeth is the founder of Meri Maison, an architectural interior design studio known for creating timeless homes with a vibrant, youthful sensibility.
Elizabeth’s love of architecture developed through years of designing, building, and renovating homes with her husband. Together they have completed two custom homes from the ground up, along with several significant renovations—experiences that shaped her deep appreciation for thoughtful floor plans, beautiful millwork, and the architectural details that give a home character.
As Elizabeth began sharing the process of building and furnishing their homes, friends and acquaintances increasingly sought her guidance on their own projects. What began as casual design advice soon evolved into full design collaborations.
Today, through Meri Maison, Elizabeth works with clients on new construction, renovations, and custom interiors. Known for her architectural approach to design, her work blends traditional foundations with a fresh, youthful spirit—layering vibrant color, pattern, and texture to create homes that feel refined, welcoming, and full of life.

NEW CONSTRUCTION
For clients building a custom home, Meri Maison serves as an owner’s representative and construction-informed design partner from the earliest stages of the project.
As an advocate for the client and a steady point of communication between the design vision and the build team, we focus on the details that make a home both functional and beautiful. Early communication, consistent site visits, and careful coordination help prevent missed details and costly decisions once a project is underway.
We assist with comprehensive plan review, kitchen and bath design, cabinetry and millwork, lighting and plumbing layouts, material selections, finish specifications, and on-site coordination — helping ensure key design decisions are thoughtful, cohesive, and clearly communicated.
Our role is to keep details organized and the project moving forward with attention and care.
RENOVATIONS
Meri Maison provides comprehensive start-to-finish project leadership for kitchens, baths, and major interior transformations. From initial layout direction and cabinetry design through material selections, finish specifications, and final installation, we help lead the project with a clear design vision and a practical understanding of the renovation process.
As a construction-informed design partner and owner’s representative, we coordinate closely with licensed contractors, builders, and trades to keep the project organized, thoughtfully detailed, and aligned with the overall design direction.
When desired, we assist in assembling the right team and provide on-site design oversight throughout the renovation — helping ensure a cohesive, well-executed result from demolition to completion.
FULL SERVICE INTERIOR DESIGN
For clients furnishing a new home, completing a renovation, or reimagining existing spaces, Meri Maison offers full-service interior design from concept through installation.
Our work includes spatial planning, furniture layouts, custom furniture, upholstery, drapery, decorative lighting, rugs, textiles, art, accessories, procurement, installation, and final styling.
Every furnishing, fabric, finish, and decorative layer is selected with attention to scale, proportion, color, texture, and function — creating interiors that feel connected to the architecture of the home while remaining personal, refined, and beautifully livable.
CONCIERGE DESIGN SERVICE
Our Concierge Design Service provides a complete room design experience delivered virtually for clients who want professional design direction without full-service procurement or installation.
Ideal for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, children’s rooms, and other individual spaces, this service gives clients a clear, cohesive design plan they can implement at their own pace.
Each project includes guidance on layout, furnishings, textiles, lighting, color, styling, and decorative details, along with curated selections that reflect the Meri Maison point of view. Known for bright, vibrant, layered interiors grounded in strong architectural foundations, our children’s rooms are especially beloved — imaginative, functional spaces designed to grow beautifully with the family.
