Meet the Founder
ELIZABETH BASSETT
A former Washingtonian and proud Virginian, Elizabeth is the founder of Meri Maison, an architectural interior design studio known for creating timeless homes with a vibrant, youthful sensibility.
Elizabeth’s love of architecture developed through years of designing, building, and renovating homes with her husband. Together they have completed two custom homes from the ground up, along with several significant renovations—experiences that shaped her deep appreciation for thoughtful floor plans, beautiful millwork, and the architectural details that give a home character.
As Elizabeth began sharing the process of building and furnishing their homes, friends and acquaintances increasingly sought her guidance on their own projects. What began as casual design advice soon evolved into full design collaborations.
Today, through Meri Maison, Elizabeth works with clients on new construction, renovations, and custom interiors. Known for her architectural approach to design, her work blends traditional foundations with a fresh, youthful spirit—layering vibrant color, pattern, and texture to create homes that feel refined, welcoming, and full of life.

Owner’s Representation, Project Management & Construction-Informed Design
For custom homes and major renovations, Meri Maison serves as a construction-informed design partner and owner’s representative, helping clients navigate the many decisions that shape a home from concept through completion. We collaborate closely with architects, licensed builders, contractors, and trades to ensure the design vision is clearly communicated, thoughtfully detailed, and carried through the build process.
Our work includes plan review, spatial planning, cabinetry, millwork, lighting and plumbing placement, material selections, finish specifications, contractor coordination, and on-site design oversight. When desired, we help assemble and coordinate licensed contractors and trades, acting as project manager and design lead to keep the process organized, aligned, and moving forward.
From early planning to final installation, Meri Maison bridges the gap between design and construction — ensuring every detail is cohesive, well-executed, and designed to be beautifully lived in.

From custom upholstery and drapery to comprehensive furniture plans and decorative lighting, we design interiors that feel intentional and balanced — completing the architectural narrative with refinement and a sense of quiet individuality
CONCIERGE DESIGN SERVICE
Our Concierge Design Service provides a complete room design. Ideal for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, children’s rooms, and other individual spaces, this service offers professional guidance on layout, furnishings, textiles, lighting, and color—allowing clients to implement the design at their own pace.
We are known for bright, vibrant, layered interiors with strong architectural foundations. While we design every room in the home, children’s rooms are often our most popular projects—thoughtfully designed to grow beautifully with the family.
